Motorcycle Repair: yamaha hs400 clutch replacement, engine oil viscosity, worn clutch

Question
Hi Mark, i replaced the clutch on my Yamaha HS400 (1982)and now it does not change gears anymore, it's like the lever does not control the action of what it's supposed to do, i think that maybe it has to do with the adjustement or that i have not inserted the plates the right way but i made sure to keep the original order of the old one... can i get a schematic and steps on how to fix it ? maybe the page of the Haynes manual ?
any advice will help, i don't want to bring it to the shop i'd like to do it myself if i can

Thanks... Richard

Answer
Hi Richard,

See microfiche parts here: "www.yamaha-motor.com" or "www.bikebandit.com"

Once Yamaha's site opens, click "Parts and Service" from the menu, and then "Parts Catalog" from the drop down menu. A new page opens, select "Motorcycle" from the left, top menu. Select your year, make and model from the left menus that follow.

With Bike Bandit, click "OEM Parts" and then select your MC from the menus that follow.

See the following troubleshooting chart. If you want additional files like this, email a request to me. mshively1@woh.rr.com
