Motorcycle Repair: flywheel, yamaha dealership, yamaha wr400

Question
I have a '98 Yamaha WR400. I'm adding flywheel weight and prior to reinstalling the flywheel I noticed there was a round tin or aluminum sleeve that slides in the center of the flywheel sandwiching the magnets between itself and the outer edge of the flywheel. This sleeve is loose and I can see that it was epoxied in place at one time using the same epoxy that holds the magnets in place. My ?: Is there an epoxy that I can feel comfortable about using to re-bond this sleeve back into place? or should I just purchase a new flywheel and not risk it?

Answer
Hi Kevin.
On this one I would recommend checking with your local Yamaha dealership.  If it's loose, that shim could be worn and need replacing.  As far as the epoxy, the dealership would know.  Most likely, there is a factory epoxy to use and they would have it.
If you have any doubt about re-epoxying the flywheel and shim, then replace it all.

Good luck.
