Motorcycle Repair: No Recoil in kick start, honda sl125, return spring

Question
There is no recoil in the kick start on a 1971 Honda SL125.  Is that something you could explain to me why and to potentially fix.  I understand if it is too complicated.  And if it is simple, I apoligize for the simplicity.

Hi Robert,

I suspect the return spring is broken or out of place. This happens sometimes when the kick lever is worked beyond it's normal reange of operation.

I recommend the service manual (if available) for inspection and repair. The manual will pay for itself with the first repair.
