 Are the points due for replacement and/or are they gapped right as well?

 How about the carbs?  Are they due or overdue for synchronization?  You need a carb synchronizer to do it right if it hasn't been done.

 Are the valves due for their routine maintainence?

Start with those and let me know what you find.
