Motorcycle Repair: engine problem, intake leak, lean side

I HAVE A 96 1200 SPORTSTER WITH THE FOLLOWING MODS SAMSON BIG GUN PIPES HYPERCHARGER SCREAMIN EAGLE MODULE AND A JET KIT. ALL MODS WERE DONE YEARS AGO. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING STARTED A FEW WEEKS AGO. WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD EVERY TIME YOU LET OFF THE THROTTLE YOU GET A LOUD POPING SOUND OUT OF PIPES EVEN UNDER LIGHT THROTTLE SOUNDS LIKE A BACKFIRE OR A MISS. OMCE YOU DRIVE IT FOR A LITTLE WHILE IT IS OK. IT DOES IT EVEN IN VERY WARM TEMPS. I PUT NEW PLUGS AND WIRES ON IT AND IT DID NOT HELP. THANK YOU.

When you took the plugs out what color were they?
Mike answer to follow up question the plugs looked normal maybe a little on the lean side . a little bit of an off white coler.

Couple of things to check.
1. make sure you dont have an exhaust leak at the heads

2. Check for a intake leak. You can do this by spraying a little carb cleaner around the intake when the bike is running. If the motor idles up then you have a leak.

Both above will cause the problem you are having
