Chris i replaced the timing chain by turning crank anti-clockwise to T mark #1 up and cams line up to timing marks .I also cleaned carbs set flots . I need to syncronize the carbs. My ?what position should the stater plate be in when the timing is on the bike seem to start hard but idles well it revs up when throttle but when you try to move it has no power moves on flat but wont go up slite incline.pull clutch in and it will rev dump clutch spins the wheel.?syncronize?

Answer
Hi Dewitt.
After the cams and everything were set, did you do the valve adjustment?  You also said that the carbs need to be synchronized.  Do that.  The timing plate is pretty much in a fixed position, so synchronizing the carbs will reset the timing.

Once the synchro is done, then let the bike sit overnight and reset the valves.

Let me know what happens.
Good luck.
