Motorcycle Repair: throttle trouble, gastank, quarter turn

Question
Chris
I have a minibike that i bought its about 3 years old but after only 4 days after i bought it the engine is giving me problems.
When i start the engine its a 5hp engine model number 130202, the engine idles fine but when i start to pull the throttle the engine dies but when i slowly pull the throttle i can get a little more rpms before it dies. I have cleaned the entire carb and the gas tank then i reassembled everything topped of the gastank started it and the same problem happens. Can you please help me.

Answer
Hi Rick.
What's the condition of the spark plug?

Is the electrode covered in fuel or blackened?  If it is, the bike is running rich.  Lean the mixture a quarter turn at a time (in) and ride the bike, then inspect the spark plug.  Clean and replace the plug and adjust and repeat as needed till the plug comes out looking normal.

Is it white or burned away?  If it is, then the bike is running lean.  Enrich the mixture by turning the mixture screw 1 quarter turn out and test ride the bike.  Repeat till the plug  comes out looking normal.

Let me know what happens.
Good luck.
