Motorcycle Repair: Headlight and turn light problems, accurate diagnosis, black boxes

Question
I just bought a 1985 Suzuki GS850. mY first bike.  ANyway, the headlight and turn lights did not work.  I took the seat off and wear the wires for the turn lights go into a group of wires I jiggled them and the turnlights came on.  WHen that happened a grinding noise came from the side of the battery where 2 black boxes are.  After about 10-15 seconcds it drained my battery.  So i charged it back up, and no none of the lgiths work.. But the brakelight works with no problems.  So I am wondering if you have any ideas on what the problem is? thank you very much

Answer
Hi Ralph,

One or more circuits may have become damaged from shorting. I recommend having a local tech diagnose and repair the problem.

This is the type of problem that I (or another tech) need to be present and perform checks for accurate diagnosis.
