Motorcycle Repair: Electrical - completely dead, starter solenoid, novice rider

Question
Hi - hope you can help me.  Bike is not vintage but is a honda - 1985 VF500 interceptor.  Two weeks ago I stalled the engine while pulling in my drive ( I am a novice rider and this is my first bike.)  The electrical system completely shut down - no horn, lights, etc. let alone spark.  I have checked the battery - full charge.  I checked the main fuse - no distortion or break.  I replaced main fuse with spare - no luck.  I bought a new ignition switch as the old one was a little worn in the tumblers.  Plugged new switch into the harness - nothing!  I am completely baffled by this - can you make any suggestions?  Is it possible that the kill switch is bad? - would this cause the problem?

Answer
Steve, check for a fusible link in the area of the starter solenoid.

Go to http://www.powersportspro.com/partsfish/login.asp

register and search the listings for VF500F, then the electrical system. You should see the fusible link listed.
Get a 12v test light from the auto parts store to help you track down the missing juice.

There are fuses in the handlebar panel, too.
