Motorcycle Repair: 1200 XLH Harley Sporster, fork legs, phillips head

Question
How do you go about greasing the neck bearings and adjusting and change the oil in the fork legs

Answer
You never said what year the bike was, so I am going ot asasumn that it doesnt have a grease fitting for the neck bearings.
To grease the bearings, you have to jack the bike up and remove the steering neck nut. The top of the triple trees needs to be removed so that the fork stem slides out of the fork neck. This will expose the upper and lower bearing. Clean the bearings and races and regrease them.
To change the fork oil. Looking at the side of the fork you will see a small phillips head screw. Remove it and the oil will drain. Take the top cap off the forks. Only do one for at a time. Once the oil drains, put the screw back in and put in the fork oil. To tell you how much I need to know the year.
Good luck and happy riding
