Motorcycle Repair: Honda motorcycle, honda vf750, secondary windings

Question
I have a 1983 Honda VF750 V45 Magna. After riding the bike a short while and it gets warmed up to middle range of temp it will start missing and die. If I let it cool down short time it will run again.
Also the fan won't come on now. I have checked the fuses and wiring, it looks ok. Please advise me on what to check.  Thanks Bill
P.S It was running fine this just came up.

Answer
Hi Bill,

There may be a heat/resistance problem occurring with ignition system. (I recommend having a local tech perform electrical diagnosis.)

Check ignition coils primary and secondary windings when cool and again as engine temperature rises.

Check same for ignition pulsar coil (pick-up coil) windings.

Examine all electrical connections for corrosion and defects. Use dielectric grease on connections to help prevent water shorting, corrosion, etc...

Tech will have to do other checks.
