Motorcycle Repair: Twin Cam Cooling: Fan or Oil Cooler?, engine oil cooler, southside johnny

Question
Hi Southside Johnny,

What do you recommend to keep a Twin Cam, like my 2004 Super Glide EFI, cool in traffic? An Electric Fan blowing on the cylinders, like P/N 91552-00A, or an Engine Oil Cooler, like P/N 62871-99A?

Stephan

Answer
Hi Stephan.
we use them both here in phoenix where it does not drop below 80 degrees at nite and as hi as 114 in the day. I would start off with the oil cooler first and if the bike still runs hot then install the fan. Also Stay away from full synth oils. Use Harley stright 50 in the summer and 20/50 in the winter.  Johnny
