Motorcycle Repair: 1985 fltc HD part # 91583-84 solid seat mounting handrail, luggage carrier, rubber mounts

Question
The above combo seat mount, handrail, and backrest support is obsolete. After welding bracket with limited success; it is time to move on and either find a sissy bar that will work on this bike and not use the tour pack or attatch a backrest to the tour pack as hd did on the 1986 flt's.  However:
1) I am unable to find a sissy bar that will readilly attatch to bike. Mustang makes one but for a luggage carrier with 4 channels(mine is 3)
2) I am thinking of attatching backrest(HD 52201-83)directly to tour pack which seems fairly straight forward. However should I try to cushion backrest with rubber mounts and will it hold up?

The backrest for a dresser is attached to the tour pac and I have never seen a problem with the tour pac cracking. Just make sure you reinforce the bolts on the inside of the tourpac. I would also add the rubber mounts.
