Motorcycle Repair: Handlebar grips, honda shadow aero, bill silver

Question
I've got a 2001 Honda Shadow Aero 1100 that I'd like to remove the handlebar grips from, but can't figure out how they come off.  I've unscrewed the end caps, but I don't see anything inside that will release the grips, and they don't seem to just pull off.

Answer
I tried to answer this yesterday, but the ALLEXPERTS server was acting up.

If you are replacing the grips, then just cut them off with a razor knife. They are glued in place.

If you want to remove them and reinstall them, you can use a long thin screwdriver (flat tip) to insert between the grip and the bar or throttle drum and work in down all the way. Spray in a little contact cleaner or solvent to help lubricate and loosen the glue bond. Turn the screwdriver shaft around and work it all around the circumference of the grip until it releases.

One of them mentions using any kind of spray paint as a grip glue when reinstalling grips, if you don't have access to grip glue or Gasketcinch type products.
