Motorcycle Repair: Lack of power, honda 750 four, moving down the road

Question
I just got a 1972 Honda 750 Four.  It runs, and with no load, it tachs up without issue.  Under a load, it bogs, and to get the bike moving down the road requires nursing the clutch at about 2500 to 3000rpm, otherwise it stalls.  Once moving the bike again bogs under hard accel, but while cruising, or light accel the bike does ok.   I've replaced the plugs already.  Carbs were originally gummed up.  I cleaned them the best I could.  I know for a fact that there is some sort of electrical short, since my new battery was drained within a week.  someone suggested that the coils could be bad.

Any ideas?  I appreciate it

Answer
Hi Patrick,

In reply to your rating comments:

Allow me to explain... When asking a question, we must enter our email addresses during the process. That's for "AllExperts" to return answered questions. The experts do not see that email address or other information that you entered there. All I get is the actual question, name, and subject of question.

I request an email addy with my instructions, but rarely receive one. Now, I understand why most do not include their address. They think it's already given during the process.

I send numerous repair and information files such as the one I replied to you. These files are lenghty and very detailed. There's no way I could type these files repeatedly in reply. I typed them once, saved them, and send them.
