Motorcycle Repair: oil problem, crank case, clutch cable

Question
I built a custom bike using a 2000xlh 1200 motor.I am using a softail oil tank, the oil tank has 4 ports on it, 1 for feed to oil pump 1return from oil pump and 1 crank case vent. My question is does the other vent go to vent the transmission or do I just need to plug it? I currently have it pluged, and the vent out of the transmission I have venting to the outside because when I put the vent in to the oil tank I get engine oil in my trans. But now I am getting trans fluid leaking out of my vent.Could this be because I am filling the oil tank too full? I also have a braided clutch cable on the bike and I am getting fluid running down the inside of the cable and leaking out on the ground. Please help   I am all out of ideas. Thank you.

Answer
The trans should vent to the air, not the oil tank. You might have your trans to full is why you are getting a leak.

On your braided line. What is happening is the trans fluid is leaking up the cable not down. About he only thing you can do is replace it. The fitting between the braiding and the piece which goes to the primary cover is not good and thins makes it leak.
Good luck and happy riding
