Motorcycle Repair: engine shutting off while driving, engine cranks, mark thanks

Question
I have a 1994 honda cbr600f2. It has nothing performance except a pipe.  I'm having a problem with the engine cutting out while driving...its happend a few times now...when it shuts off and i try to restart it, the engine cranks but wont start unless i boost it then i begin driving home and it may or may not cut out again before i get there.  There is 12.6V in the battery when the bike is off, and when its idling it reads 12.2V at the leads.  If i rev it up to about 2500 or so, it reads slightly over 13V.  any help with this would be awesome.  Please reply to markperchaluk@hotmail.com

Answer
Hi Mark,

Thanks for re-sending your question.

Battery voltage and charging output voltage is normal. I suspect a loose connection or a electronics part may be causing the problem. First place to check is battery lead connections. All connectors must be clean and tightly fastened.

Use dielectric grease on all electrical connections that you can find. This will help prevent water shorting from washing/rain and corrosion. It will also check loose electrical connections at the same time.

Try these and advise. Use my email: mshively1@woh.rr.com for replying.
