Motorcycle Repair: yamaha electrical, fuse box, trouble light

Question
I have a 1987 yamaha fzr750r. A couple of weeks ago i got home and parked my bike in the garage, when i came out in the morning and tried to start it up i got nothing, no neutral light, no headlights.  I figured the battery died but when i tried to take it out i broke one of the battery posts, so i had to buy a new one.  I put the new battery in and tried to start it and again nothing happened so i figured it was a problem with one of the fuses so i tested them all with a trouble light and they were all getting power.  As i was testing the fuses i heard one of the relays near the fuse box click and the neutral light and headlights came on and it started.  I thought the relay was shot so i ordered a new one.  I left the bike for a day or so and when i tried to start it again the battery was nearly dead so i brought it back to where i bought it and they told me the battery was faulty and wasnt holding a charge and replaced it.  When i got the new battery and installed it everything worked fine, started it up no problem so i figured it was the battery that was the problem.  We had some pretty bad weather for a week after that so i didnt ride for the week.  I went out yesterday to start it and it was dead again.  I put the battery on the charger for a couple of hours and had enough power to start it.  I had to replace the alternator last year but couldnt afford the six hundred bucks for a new one so i bought a used one and put new brushes in it.  Is there anything in the electrical system that would drain a battery out even if the key is off? Im wondering if this may be a problem with the alternator again even though i never rode the bike after putting the second new battery, or am i just unlucky with batteries and maybe the second battery is faulty as well? Thanks in advance for any suggestions
