Motorcycle Repair: New Yamaha Oil Change?, gasoline engines, motorcycle oil

Question
I have just changed oil in my 2004 Yamaha 650Vstar. (900 miles), I used Rotella-T 15W-40W as opposed to "motorcycle" oil. After the oil change I believe my engine is giving me a little backfire.  Is there anything an oil change could do to cause that reaction from my engine?  Of course I'm concerned with warranty etc.even if my past experience with warranty response has been shaky at best.  Just worried a bit, thanks for your reply hoping it relieves my present anxiety. The bike has been rode very cautiously during the break in (speed, quick starts etc.)

Answer
Hi Dale,

The oil is very good diesel oil that is very good for gasoline engines, too. Avoid the synthetic unless labeled for MC engines.

This oil will not affect your warranty.

The oil change will not cause performance problems as long as the oil level is proper.
