Motorcycle Repair: loose brake handle, harley davidson road king, t spring

Question
Hi Southside Johnny,

I have a '96 Harley Davidson Road King and the brake handle is loose which causes the brake light to remain on. The handle doesn't "spring" back to a "closed" posistion. If I giggle the handle and push it "closed" then the light does go off. The repair manual states to make sure the handle and the switch makes contact so I did try adjusting that didn't seem to work. Does this sound like a major repair job, or am I not adjusting the switch housing properly. Thanks in advance for your help

Answer
there is a little metal peice that gos into a plunger in the master cylinder and the other end presses the brake lite switch in. sometimes it gets bent or out of position. you will have to remove it to strighten it out and bend it back into the correct position and then reinstall it  JOHNNY
