Motorcycle Repair: re: 1996 xr-80 honda, honda model, xr 80

Question
after running a few seconds sounds like the timing chain rubs the case.. intermitently {not continuse}
does the adjuster put tension on as you screw it it or out? any other ideas? thank you!

Answer
Hi Marv,

Adjusting the screw inwards takes up slack in the timing chain.

I recommend the service manual for details on this and all repairs. It will pay for itself with the first home repair. I would have to hear the sound to accurately diagnose the source.
