Motorcycle Repair: HONDA 98 XR CRANKSHAFT, xr600, tech1

I HAVE A 98 XR600 THAT HAS A WORN LITTLE END ON THE ROD. I HAVE PULLED APART MOTOR AND ORDERED A REPLACEMENT ROD KIT.I HAVE ACCESS TO SUITABLE EQUIPEMENT BUT COULD USE SOME ADVICE ON STEPS TO PULL CRANK APART AND RE-ASSEMBLE. CAN CRANK BE PRESSED APART COLD OR IS HEATING NECESSARY. ANY ADVICE APRECIATED

Hi Michael,

Crankshaft can be separated cold. Use a crankshaft truing stand following reassembly. There's not much to tell. Just do it and know what to look for. Some cranks are welded after truing.
