Motorcycle Repair: Elite 1 module installation, bike factory, voes

Question
Hello Johnny!

Finally found a dealer that ordered the 242319 Elite 1 ignition module for me, and tracked down the NGK BPR 8ES spark plugs (no one had the 7's, did find 9's though too)...

Have the bike apart and the module installed part way.  I am to step 4.  The wiring.  Now I'm lost.  ;)

The graphics on the instructions don't seem to show what I have.  I cut the wires from the old module to the connector that attaches to the coil, and am thinking I need to install the wiring from the Elite 1 to that connector?  I do have a VOES also on the bike (factory)...

If I am incorrect in that I need to install the wires of the module to the connector that goes to the coil, where exactly do I put the wires from the new module?

Don't want to screw up >$250 worth of parts...  :)

The bike is a HD 1991 fat boy, 1340, supertraps.  You recommended the above purchases to hopefully solve the spitting/sputtering fouling plugs problem the bike seemed to be having.

Thank you for all of your help and assistance...

Sincerely, An (Wisconsin)

Answer
if there is only 2 post on the coil then it is a duel fire coil    that is the coil the bike came with.  there is a white wire going to the coil. that is the hot from the ignition switch. leave that one on and add the red one from the new ignition. the other post remove old ignition wire and install black wire from the new ignition. tape off the white wire from the new ignition. the green wire from the new ignition connect to the vilote wire from the VOES switch.  make sure ingition is set on duel fire ant !4 and rpm at 6000 for now.  now set the timing according to the instructions.  you will love this ignition.  JOHNNY
