Motorcycle Repair: 79 Honda CM400A No Spark, stator assembly, cdi ignition

Question
Hi, I bought this bike from a friend who had parked it for 3 weeks, then it wouldn't start, no spark.   I have put a brand new ignition module on it and still have no spark, it only sends 1V to the coil.   The ignition module has 12V to it, the alternator feeds it ac at 7V as well.   We are starting to think the Ignition module isn't getting enough power or amps.   Any Ideas?
Thanks

Answer
James, the stators on CM-CB400As and Ts were a big issue, back in the late 70s and many were replaced under Honda warranty. The pulser coil is part of the stator assembly, so the whole thing has to be changed.

Do check or bypass the KILL switch as there have been times when the contacts were corroded and caused a no spark situation.

This is a CDI ignition, which is self-powered (like an electronic magneto) and not dependent on battery voltage, as I recall.
