Motorcycle Repair: clutch or gear problem?, yamaha vstar 1100 custom, clutch mechanism

Question
I have a 2002 Yamaha Vstar 1100 Custom. I had to remove the cover on the gear shift side of the bike to repair some wires, while doing this the part of the clutch that puts pressure on the clutch push rod fell out. I put it back in and made sure that it was clean and that it moved out when it was turned. After putting it all back together and starting the bike the neutral light won't stay on and when you try to work the shifter the gears grind. I tried to adjust the clutch at the engine but no matter how far in or out I adjust it I can't get the bike to work, the gears still grind.
Thank you for your Help
Bill

Answer
Hi Bill,

I couldn't find the procedure for reinstalling the clutch mechanism and cover. I recommend checking the library for the service manual or purchasing the manual.
