Ihave a 1989 fxrs with stock motor. It has an s&s shorty e carb. After the motor warms up and i am going at a steddy speed it spits and spudders
like it is not getting enought gas. I give it more gas and it responds fine . I have been told that this might be an intake leak. So when the motor is warmed up i spraded smoe starting fluid
around the intakes. The motor rpm's went down. Is
this correct or should the rpm's go up?
Answer -
your intake manifold o-ring are leaking and need to be replaced. when you sprayed at the intake and the rpms changed. that shows that there is a leak.  JOHNNY
When i replace the 0-rings, what is the correct way to tighten them up. And can you get them to tight?

Answer
hi Lou
I sung fit the intake manifold and then install the carb and backing plate to make sure the carb is mounted in the proper position and the manifold is in the correct position then I tighten up the intake manifold bolts. There is a off set allen wernch sold through Drag Specialities for intake manifolds. It works great. then tighten up all the other bolts.torque is 13 ft lbs     JOHNNY
