Motorcycle Repair: Head gasket, honda cr 250, head gasket

Question
Mark, I have a 1989 Honda CR 250 R, While riding I blew a head gasket (Water in my oil) I pulled both side plates and drained the contaminated oil, and put fresh oil in it to eliminate any rust to form overnight. My questions are: Is the head gasket my only trouble or could it be something else wrong to allow water to get in the oil? and what are the torque specks for the head bolts?

Answer
Hi Don,

A defective head gasket, cracked cylinder wall, or cracked crankcase can cause the problem. Perform a leak-down test to determine the source of the leak.

I recommend the service manual for engine specs. AllExperts don't have that intel unless the expert happens to own the manual.

Visit www.ezboard.com and do a keyword dearch of your CR. There's lots of websites and forums with tech assistance.

Respectfully,
