Motorcycle Repair: spark plug wire current, kawasaki 750 vulcan, bob leblanc

Question
Marc
I went to the dealership and they suggested I only change the 90 degree boot. Does this make sense rather than the whole wire ? Bob

I have a 1991 Kawasaki 750 Vulcan. When it is running, if I touch the left rear plug wire, I feel the current in my arm. The others do nothing. What could be causing this ? Bob LeBlanc
Answer -
Hi Bob,

Your arm is the path of least resistance when touching that secondary lead. The spark plug wire is defective. Current is passing through or over the insulation. Replace the wire or coil assembly.

Answer
Bob,

Sorry! You can start with the boot. That could be a source of the leakage. If the problem persists, replace the plug wire. Most plug caps unscrew from the plug wire. Some are fixed.
