Motorcycle Repair: 1987 Kawasaki VN1500 88 (SE), sight glass, changing oil

Question
As you know , there is a sight-glass on the lower right crank cover for checking the oil . I have to have someone sit on the bike to level it up , then cant really see if the oil level is correct because of the cloudy sight glass window .
My question is ... Is there a way I can clean this sight glass (maybe while Im changing oil and have the filter screen out) or can I install a dipstick ?
Thanks . Todd

Answer
Hi Todd,

I don't know of any dipstick mods that will work. Try Vulcan Owner's Club websites and post the same question on their forums/message boards.

While chaging oil and filter, you may remove the clutch cover and attempt to clean the sight glass. Get gaskets in advance.
