Motorcycle Repair: cooling system, air evac, hi bob


Question
I own a 1996 RM125.  How can I tell the effectivness of it's cooling system? For instance, is the water pump and thermostat functioning correctly?  

Are there any signs or symptoms that one should look for in order to detect a cooling systems malfunction?

Hi Bob,

The most common cause of overheating is air trapped in the cooling system. When we service our MC's and replace the coolant, we usually get air in the system. The air must be purged from the system or the coolant will boil at a lower temperature and overheat as a result.
