Motorcycle Repair: RM 250, coil windings, ground connector

Question
This bike has no spark...plug is good...as are connections, wires etc...Would it be CDI unit or Ignition coil?...Where do I look first?...Is there a test for those parts...They're too expensive for trial and error...
Thanx.

Answer
Hi Drew,

The problem could be ignition coil, ig. coil leads (primary & secondary), ig. pick-up coil (pulsar coil), plug cap, CDI/TCI, poor or loose ground/connector.

Check coil windings for continuity and resistance. Same tests for pick-up coil. See service manual for how-to & specs. Check cap and wires for clean tight connections. Look for damaged wiring...rats and debris from riding can damage wires.

Call your local Suzuki dealership and see if they have the expensive test equipment for the CDI/TCI. Some cannot be tested.
