Motorcycle Repair: 1978 Honda XL250S, local bike shop, fork seals

Hello Christopher,

I have a 1978 HondaXL250S.  I am replacing the front fork seals and I was hoping you could tell me what weight fork oil to use and how much to add.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Don.
 Go to the local bike shop and ask for fork oil.  It is specially designed oil just for use in the forks.  Almost every bike out there uses the same oil for the forks.  One bottle should be more than enough.

As far as the quantity, refer to your repair manual.  It has all of the specs for that in there, as not all bikes use the same amount of fork oil.
