Motorcycle Repair: vacuum line, vacuum line, vent hose

Question
Thanks for your quick answer.  The hose that is part #68 in the illustration is intact on my bike and I beleive it is the "prime" hose from the fuel valve.  The hose I am having troble routing is apparently a vacume hose that signals the tank switch that the engine is turning over and allows fuel to flow from the tank through the fuel valve.  It connects to the tank at about the same place as the wires for the gas gauge.  I have looked all over the carbs and manifold area, but can't find the connection that matches the small "stretch" mark at the end of this hose.  It is fairly long and could easily route down under the tank and to the carbs or manifold area.  Thanks again!

I have just acquired a 1983 Suzuki GS650GL that has been sitting for 15 years. Everything seems to work except the fuel tank was removed and the vacuum line from the tank was disconnected at the intake end. I can't find where that hose connects on the engine. Can you help?
Thanks

Hi Bill,

Visit the following website and look at part #68.

Answer
Bill,

Reference the microfiche, part #72 is the main fuel supply hose for the carbs. Part #68 is the vacuum hose from the carb, to the petcock. This hose allows fuel to flow when engine is running.

Look again for reference: http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/oem_schematic_view.asp?sche

I suspect the hose you are concerned about is a vent hose. If it originates from the bottom of the gas tank and located near center of tank or forwards of there, its a vent tube. It is routed towards the rear and to the ground, back behind the carbs.
