Motorcycle Repair: Knocking when hot, honda nighthawk 750, wrist pins

Question
I have '93 Honda Nighthawk 750. In riding around recently, the bike knocks when taking off - in 1st gear, especially noticable when hot. Only thing I've done to the bike is installed new spark plugs this spring, and changed the oil and filter (put in 10W 30 synthetic & then changed back to 10W 40 regular to see if that was the issue).

Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Steve,

Knocking sounds are related to crankshafts, connecting rods, wrist pins, pistons, detonation, and sometimes transmission problems. I recommend having a tech test ride and listen to the noise.

Is the problem related with switching to synthetic oil? I doubt the syth oil caused the problem. Synthetic oil's superior lubricating qualities may cause a dormant problem to surface, according to some of the information I have read.

Send me an email address as requested. I'll return infomation files on oils. Have a pro check the noise. I can't say accurately without being present and investigating.

Respectfully,
