Motorcycle Repair: Gas tank vent tube blocked, honda cbr 600, vent tube

Question
I have a 1993 Honda CBR 600 F2. I recently pulled the tank to clean it and possibly use a "Kreem" type liner on it. I discovered that a similar tank liner had already been used. Also, the vent tube (the smaller of the two on the bottom) is blocked, i.e. I cannot blow air through it. I believe it was plugged by the tank lining application. I have tried wire, pipe cleaner, etc, but there are too many angles inside the tank to force it through. How can I unplug this tiny tube? I have had problems that this discovery explains, such as stalling in hot weather but running after the gas cap is opened, and pushing up to 1/5th of a tank of fuel out the bottom after being topped off and parked in the sun. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Greg,

Good diagnostic investigation!

Acetone will remove Kreem in a second. Acetone is one of the tank prep bottles you get with Kreem (smallest bottle, I think).

Contact Kreem Co. and inquire about repairing the CBR's tank with Kreem. They should advise how to keep the vent open/unobstructed.
