Motorcycle Repair: Electrical, lights and switches, wild 1 inc, wild1inc

Question
I've just finished rebuilding the front end of my '89 sportster.  I added 8" over tubes, using a chop kit by Seeger Cycle ( http://www.seegercycle.com/cgi-bin/products/details_bike.cgi?3.5.100 ). I replaced the mini-ape bars with chopper drag bars by Wild 1, Inc. ( http://www.wild1inc.com/handlebars.html )  I also replaced my stock hand controls with chrome controls. Lastly, I added a spotlight/turnsignal display by National Cycle. ( http://www.nationalcycle.com/spotlight.html ) The bike has been modified with a stretch tank that has a tank-mounted FL style speedo and switch. This is just to set up where I'm at.

Now it's down to hooking up the lights. I can get power to the turnsignals on the spotlight array, but I can't make the spotlights light up. I tried patching into the hot wire for my head light (which works okay), but can't get them to light up. If I patch one of the spotlights up directly to the battery, I can get it to light up dimly, but not fully.  Do I need some kind of booster to increase the capacity to the spot lights? Why would they need more power than the headlight? Do I need a different kind of harness because I'm adding spotlights?
I guess I need some step-by-step instructions on how to wire this up and troubleshoot the power problem.

Thanks,
Charles Blake

Answer
SInce you said you attached the light to the battery and it lite dimly then it sounds like a ground problem.
Try this, Attach the wire again to the hot side of the battery and a ground wire to the light from the battery and see if it doesnt work.
If it doesnt work let me know
