Motorcycle Repair: 1992 Harley Sportster, harley sportster, overflow tube

Question
Came to a stop bike still running when fuel began leaking out of a tube coming from carb.  Maybe tube shook loose from its home.  I've had this bike one week and I'm mechanically iliterate.  Help

Answer
The tube you are refering to is the carb overflow tube. When the float bowl gets to full it overflows. Usually this is caused from a piece of dirt between the float and the seat.
Remove the air filter and backing plate. Now start the bike and see if it leaks from the tube. If it does tap the bottom of the carb with a screwdriver and you will probably unstick the dirt. If you can t get it to stop this way ten you will have to remove the carb and float bowl from the carb and clean it out.
Good luck and happy riding
