Motorcycle Repair: Carburetor, honda shadow spirit, air fuel mixture

Question
I have a two thousand and 3 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. When I am running at a steady throttle I feel and hear a sound something like Ba Ba Bu Ba. I took it once to the Honda mechanic where I bought it, he rode it and said he didn't feel or hear anything wrong. I also don't think the back pressure is real smooth when you let off the gas. I have tried all 3 octanes and nothing seems to help. Also my Honda dealer put on Cobra drag pipes and jetted the carbs for me. But the problem is it was doing the same thing before it was jettted and pipes were put on. Thanks any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Ron,

I would need to hear the problems to give an accurate diagnosis.

On occasion, I get a question from someone who has ridden in-line four cylinder MC's, who now has a twin cylinder. They're not used to the twins and become concerned, casts a question.

With new pipes and carb tuning, you can expect some variations in running. It's not easy to get carb's air-fuel mixture correct through all ranges. Often requires several plug chops (readings) and on & off with carbs to make necessary changes.
