Motorcycle Repair: No top end, southside johnny, heritage softail

Question
I have a 1998 Heritage Softail. It has a high flow air intake and has been re-jetted. It has absolutely no torque at the top end. Im lucky if it will go 85 miles an hour. My last FXR flew. Do the holes in the bolts need to be lined up with the top linkage? And if so, on the back side there  is the top linkage and a tube at the bottom but only one hole in the bolt. I have Bartel pipes on it. This is the second engine in it, the first ran no better. And it blew up.

Answer
your final gear ratio is way off. you have a 2.92:1 final drive ratio. and you need to have a 3.36:1 final drive ratio.you need to change the outer clutch hub from a 36 tooth to a 37 tooth and change the motor sprocket from a 25 tooth to a 24 tooth engine sprocket, the bike will then go 120mph. I do not know what you are talking about on the linkage thing?????????  602-340-1266 SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY
