Hi,
I was returning from a trip out west last september and experianced the dreaded "cam bearing failure" on mt 2000 flht.it immediately and H.D. picked up the tab. Because my trans and primary oil were due to be changed, I decided to also change my syn oil, only had a 1000 miles on it since repair. There were a lot of metal shaving drained from the motor. My H.D. wrench says this nothing to worry about, they are just "left overs" from the failure and that I will not see this next time I change the oil. Giving the already noisy state of the tc88, don't need anything else to worry about. Sounds wrong to me, your comments? Failure occured at 14000 miles. Thanks, Brian

your H-D wrench needs some serious new training. Tell your wrench to install your old oil in his bike for the other 1,500 miles you have left to go on that oil. find a new wrench.  Southside Johnny  602-340-1266  Phoenix Az
www.southsidesdyno.com Thanks a lot for your prompt response to my question. So in your opinion, did these guys miss something else or did they just do a nasty job of flushing the engine? Also where do I go from here? I drained about a quart of the new oil out after putting a couple hundred on it and strained it through a cheese cloth, no shaving there or on the plug. Though the motor seems overall tighter than before, I get a bit of a "light vibrating noise" at around 2200 to 2500 rpms that is consistent and it does concern me. Overall it seems to run great.I guess the big question is, if this was your bike would you take a wait and see approach or immediatley get it to another dealership? Once again, thank alot.

Answer
hi brian
fist off I hope they did not reinstall INA bearings back into the motor, I use only Torrington cam bearings in all my harley motors I build, Also I would of flush out the oil tank and blow out all the oil lines clean and clean out the oil filter housing, Then run the bike for 10 miles and change enging oil and filter again, I wait on taking it to another dealer because you have all ready had them do the work now lets see if they stand behind there work.
