Motorcycle Repair: Norton Commando 1975, norton commando, frame tubes

Question
I just bought and took delivery of this rebuilt bike. It's a beauty. I have ordered some books on maintenance of these bikes but in the meantime, what oil and lubricants do you recommend and what should I do before starting up the bike since all fluids were drained prior to delivery.

I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,

Answer
Brad,
Typically you need to fill the the crankcase up w/ standard motor oil.  Straight 30 weight was probably reccomended in '75 however a 5W-30 or 10W-30 synthetic or crude oil will be better.  Fill brake fluid resivior w/ DOT 3 brake fluid.  After this you should be good to go.  I believe this is an "oil in the frame" system and there will be a small filler and resivior in which to add oil, it actually is stored "in the frame tubes".

Good luck, enjoy!
