Motorcycle Repair: Honda CX500 1980, air fuel mixture, leak down test

Engine starts ok, runs at 3000 rpm left side exhaust pipe glows red after about 3 minutes, engine sounds ok.

Just bought bike for restoration trying to find out condition of engine prior to restoring bike

Dave: Engine starts ok, runs at 3000 rpm left side exhaust pipe glows red after about 3 minutes, engine sounds ok.

Mark: Engine idle may need adjusted and/or carb synchronization may need adjusted to restore proper idle. Left pipe glowing is due to excessively rich air-fuel mixture on that carb. The carburetors may need thoroughly cleaned to remove varnished gasoline if MC was stored or not used in a while.

Dave: Just bought bike for restoration trying to find out condition of engine prior to restoring bike.

Mark: Do cylinder compression and leak-down test to determine condition of engine.
