Motorcycle Repair: fuel tank and lines, pet cock, petcock

Question
My 2003 883xlh sportster quit working like it ran out of fuel, but when I put the reserve on it still didn't keep running and there was fuel still in it.  It starts but doesn't keep running when you turn the throttle it cuts out.  I want to take the tank off and clean the lines and the fuel filter but can't find instructions without buying a manual.  My owner manual doesn't cover fuel repair problems.

Answer
you do not have to remove the fuel tank to clean the fuel line or fuel filter, just remove fuel line from pet cock and use a adjustable wrench to remove the petcock from the fuel tank. the fuel filter is on top of the petcock. blow it out with compressed air and also the fuel line. reinstall petcock and fuel line go riding.
