I have a 2003 XL200 custom sport please could you tell me what is the correct tension for the drive belt I have about an inch free play it seems a little slack.

Answer -
An inch is a little slack. Harley makes a belt tension tool which you are going to need. You use it to put 10lbs of pressure on the belt when checking it.
Look in your manual you got with the bike and it will tell how to do it. If you dont have the manual let me know and I can tell you.
Good luck and happy riding

Answer
You are going to need the belt tension gauge (part number HD-35381). Using the gage at the bottom of the belt and at the center, you should have 5/16 to 3/8 deflection with 10 lbs of force from the belt tension gage. If not eh loosen the axle nut and adjust the belt using the belt adjusters. Make sure you adjust on both sides equally so the tire runs true. Tighten the axle nut and your ready to go.
