Hi Bill
Thanks for beeing so quick with your responce. The cap was broken after the leak (as i was investigating it, seems to make no differance just for looks) The tube does look as if it is pressed in, the oil is leaking out of the breather hole, as the tube is a tight fit. by the way the bike has 22000 on the clock.

Answer
The breather is to help vent the heat buildup from the churning oil in the differential. If the oil level is correct and still leaking, try to reduce the level about 1/8" and see if it stops. Gear oil does get stirred up pretty good when it is working, but shouldn't leak out of the housing under normal conditions.
