Question
HI I BOUGHT A 1983 HONDA GOLD WING 1100 LOADED. RODE IT HOME AND NOTICED THAT I COULDNT BACK IT UP IN NEUTRAL MANUALLY. SO I PULLED ALL OF THE CALIPERS LOKED THEM OVER AND PUT BACK ON.THEN I FIND OUT IT WAS NOT RODE MUCH LAST YEAR.COULD THIER BE A RING IN THE CYLINDERS NOT LETTING THEM RETRACT FROM SITTING SO LONG.REBUILD THESE SIMALAR TO WHEEL CYLINDERS ON OLDER CARS AND TRUCKS.SITTING ON CENTER STAND CANT TURN BACK WHEELAND FRONT TURNS BUT HARD.  HELP SINCERLY YOURS LOWELL

Answer
Lowell, you need to clean out all the calipers. Generally corrosion builds up behind the seal rings in the caliper body and then they won't let the piston retract normally.
Use the master cylinder to pump the pistons out and then remove the seal rings inside, clean out the groove really well and install a new seal ring and dust seal if necessary.

Also be sure that the master cylinders are clean inside, so the tiny bleed port is not plugged. If the port is plugged, then the brakes stay applied, as well.
