Motorcycle Repair: 98 NIGHTHAWK, electric gloves, plug caps

Question
MY CB750 NEVER STARTED GOOD. IN THE WINTER, IT CAN BARELY GET OUT OF IT'S OWN WAY. I ADDED SOME LIGHTS BECAUSE THE STOCK LIGHTING WAS INSUFFICIENT. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO USE GERBING ELECTRIC GLOVES. MY QUESTION:IS THERE ANYWAY TO INSTALL A MORE POWERFUL ALTERNATOR? I RIDE IN NYC AND SIT IN MUCH TRAFFIC. IF I DON'T KEEP IT ON A BATTERY TENDER ALL NIGHT, IT JUST WON'T START DURING THE WINTER. HELP!

Answer
Rob, these bikes are pretty bulletproof, from what I know about them. I would have the carbs cleaned and choke adjusted as necessary to ensure proper starting and running functions. Check over the spark plugs and plug caps, too, for any wear or failures.

Perhaps your battery is in need of replacement, too.

Check with www.electrexusa.com for possible stator upgrades.
