Motorcycle Repair: M/C Horn repair, measure voltage, switch button

Question
Thanx bunches for your previous advice on dismantling and cleaning carbs on my '85 Virago XV1000. Now that's she's running a again I'm preparing to hit the road but discovered neither horn works. Ohm meter gives good reading at the connections to horn (when switch is depressed) so I'm assuming the horns are "fried"? Are they repairable?
Thanx in advance Mark   :)

Answer
Hi Gerry,

Measure voltage at the horns. Consider cleaning the horn switch button contacts.

Try hookeing a known good horn to the wires as a test. Horns are exposed to the elements and sometimes become corroded inside and stop working. Sometimes spiders make webs inside that causes them to work poorly.
