Motorcycle Repair: saddlebag attachment, saddlebag brackets, kim hi

Question
Hi Chris
I need some advice.  I just bought a 2004 Honda Aero.  I am going to get saddlebags eventually.  Right now saddlebag brackets are not available. My dilemna is I want to remove my passenger seat and put on a chrome curved luggage rack when it becomes available but it seems most saddlebags throw over and mount under the passenger seat.  Can I attach my saddlebags some other way?

Thanks for your help.
Kim

Answer
Hi Kim.
Actually, that's just the way that most people mount them as a theft deterrent.  Even with the bag protectors mounted, you should, with a bit of creativity on your part, mount them the same way.  Otherwise, you can throw them over the rear seat.  They even make a pad that goes over the crossover piece to protect the tush of your passenger when the bags are on the bike.

But generally, the bags are designed to go over the seat easier than under.

Enjoy.
