Motorcycle Repair: oil, clutch problems, automobile oil

Question
Hi Chris, My question is related to synthetic oil.  Since a have about 3,000 km on my Vtx 1800cc retro 2002, I have been using Mobil 1 supersyn (I have now 25,000 km, a year later)for every change (bleu cap by coolder temperature and red cap in the summer).  My question is: I have been reading different informations that tell people not to use this synthetic automobile oil anymore (since they change the formula recently) because of the new additives and the probability of have eventuel problems with my cluth. I like the price of this product compare to Amsoil and you can get it at any Walmart.  So should I stop using this product and switch to Amsoil?

Thanks for you advises and sorry for the spelling (I am french!)

Marc.

Answer
Hi Marc.
Based on the fact that people have been having clutch problems by using this oil, since they changed the formula, I would say that to continue using it, is just inviting a clutch problem.  Switch to one that is motorcycle friendly immediately.  If you must make an error, then make it on the side of caution.

Good luck.
